Sudden Jump in Latency

[link to this post]

When the exchange I'm connected was upgraded recently I regraded from Home 1000 to Active & also signed up for the Quality Monitor. I check it occasionally & have come across a significant change in latency after a period of disconnection the 24th October, which can be seen in the graph here:

My Broadband Ping

Before the switch I was getting 10ms latency & after it's about 30ms.

I also run speedtests occasionally & before the change I've been getting a very consistent download speed of around 2505-2514 kbps. I checked tonight & I'm now seeing 3160kbps, so it seems I've traded an extra 660kps of speed for 20ms of latency.

I'm not a gamer so that aspect doesn't worry me but is there a mechanism to explain this balancing act? Ideally I'd like my new higher speed with the old lower latency.

Has interleaving been turned on?

It looks like it has:

Router data:
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 3865 kbps 937 kbps
Line Attenuation 54.5 db 27.6 db
Noise Margin 1.4 db 6.1 db

Service profile data
Noise Margin Reset Run Mode Run Mode Changed Interleave Date
N Interleaved N Auto 24-Oct-2010 18:05
N Interleaved Y Auto 24-Oct-2010 18:05
N Fast N Auto 23-Sep-2010 00:00

Line rate data
Upstream Downstream Sync Rate BRAS Profile Interleave Sync Date
937 3000 3424 adsl3000 Auto 31-Oct-2010 11:47
947 2500 2848 adsl2500 Auto 03-Oct-2010 22:14
0 1750 2016 adsl1750 Auto 29-Sep-2010 22:03

0 2500 2848 adsl2500 Auto 23-Sep-2010 00:12

It changed on the 24th at 18:05, exactly when the graph shows a change.

I tried formatting the data but the post strips out the additional spaces.

between the 2 latencies it shows red for packet loss. does this happen as interleaving is activated or is this the cause of the jump in latency.

im not all that versed on this aspect but im sure someone can make sense of it.

The latency increase is due to Interleaving.
The packetloss is while the router resyncs.

was the re sync a deliberate action or did it happen on its own?
