Phone dead, sync speed halved.

Not getting any dial tone on phone and sync speed is halved if anything at all. Is this consistent with one wire/leg down? Have reported to BT Phone as no dial tone.

Well have managed to make my ADSL more stable after reducing sync to 2 mb as it was starting to drop out alot at 4096. Phone still dead and no sign of BT to fix it.

Think they have 96 hours to fix it (you still use BT as your phone service provider)

Sounds like you've lost current to your line (ADSL is RF so not affected)

Yea they are quoting Friday for it to be fixed by. On the contrary my DSL is affected the sync is usually 8128 with a 6db margin but after the phone went dead it halved to 4096 and I had to manually lower it on the router to 2mb to get it stable. Lots of CRC errors at 4096, dont want my target margin to go above 6db for when the phone is fixed.

I'm sure Zen will sort it for you if it goes haywire.

That means you have lost a leg, (one of the 2 wires, it's called a dis-leg) as dsl will work with only one wire (but poorly) whereas the phone has to have both wires for it to work.

Normally fairly easy for OR to fix once they get out to you.

Cheers for that, had a feeling it might be. It crackled a few days then nothing. As I've lost a leg I will have to hop around until OR get here.

All fixed. Water in a joint a few metres away from the house in a cable pit. Now to wait for DLM to put me back on a decent profile from 2 meg. 5 days isn't it?

Might not take that long as it was a big drop.
