FTTC Modems

[link to this post]

Hello,

Really simple question, I'm looking to order my new router for FTTC which should be installed within the next two weeks - but need to know, is it right to say that any router that supports PPPoE on its WAN interface will work with the MODEM that BTO Supply ?

Was looking at the top end Linksys E4200 router.. which according to the user guide I am reading it states it will support the following connection types:

 Automatic Configuration - DHCP
 Static IP
 PPPoE
 PPTP
 L2TP
 Telstra Cable

So this should be fine with Zen FTTC right?

I would go with Draytek, but the one Zen recommend is just so ugly!

Thanks,

Phil.

Yip, providing it has a PPPoE WAN port you'll be fine.

I've ordered a Buffalo WZR-HP-G300NH, which is a little expensive at £60; but I wanted the Gigabit LAN switch for my internal network. The WHR-HP-G300N is apparently better for FTTC, £15 cheaper but only does 100Mbps LAN.

The Draytek kit looks massively overpriced to me.
