DNS issues?

I've been getting quite a few cannot find server messages for sites I know exist and are up, retrying the request a second time results in a successful resolution.

I'm using Zen's DNS resolvers via auto assignment on my router and the PC sees the router as DNS server (again via auto assignment.

DNS cache is slear and DNS Client service is disabled so all look ups are referred to the DNS resolvers.

Are there any current issues as the problem has only appeared over the last couple of days.

I'm asking here to see if anyone else is experiencing the same, thus giving the good people from Zen who frequent this forum some examples to work with.

Ditto, I started experiencing this quite frequently yesterday, especially around 10PM or so.

Anyone using ISP dns servers is just asking for trouble. OpenDNS and Google are the way to go.

No thanks - OpenDNS I do not trust and don't appreciate them filtering sites out they consider to be unsafe, I will decide that myself thanks. Google have enough fingers in pies as it is, so I rule them out too. I'm sure lookups are just as fast with Zen (considering everything related DNS).

I've been seeing lots of DNS issues the last couple of days too - I switched to using OpenDNS (temporarily - I'd prefer to stick to Zen's normally excellent service too) and it cured the problem. Hopefully normal service will shortly resume.

I had 1 server not found tonite when trying to get to ebay, fortunately not while bidding. It was around 10.45pm. You want bad DNS then try 3 DNS when on a dongle while your phone is out.

We feel the issue has been resolved however we would like you to test this for us please. Could you send any examples you get to me with the following information:

1) What domain are you trying to lookup (list if there are a few)
2) The IP/Zen username you are trying to access the dns servers from
3) The symptoms, i.e. intermittently not looking up, permanent error etc.
4) Confirmation that changing to google or another dns server solved the issue

Thanks for looking into this, will do a bit of testing when I get in tonight.

I've had DNS issues for about a week, but solved it by bypassing my routers DNS relay. I've had no problems since manually specifying zens DNS servers on my PC.
