Suddenly poor speed

My router is still sync'd at 9227 kbps as it has been continuously for the past 93 days, yet yesterday I noticed in the Line Rate Data in my Zen Portal, that the sync rate was being reported at 6752 kbps (upload speed has dropped as well).

Since my router has never dropped the line I am puzzled why the rate should suddenly have dropped so much. Any ideas why this has happened, and what I can to do get it back up again?

Has actual throughput dropped or just the figures shown on the zen portal?

As far as I can tell, download speed has been unaffected, it just seems to be the figure reported in the Zen Portal.

Sounds like DLM has reduced the IP profile of your line, but this won't take effect until you resync.

DLM does not alter the IP Profile. The IP profile reacts to notifications in changes of sync speed.

A resync would generate a new recalculation of the IP Profile anyway, and as ADSL2+ this would be the immediate change to be 88% of the sync speed.

A resync will probably tidy up the web interface

Well, I rebooted the router, so we'll see what happens.

Still puzzled why the Zen Portal details changed though.

occassionally people have seen modems that claim to have been online for 100's of hours, but other systems show short resync phases.

You would expect the router firmware to use an event system, but some don't and just poll for status every 10 or 20 seconds, so can miss things.

No proof your router did this, but seen it happen now and then over the years.
