Re: IP Profile Reset on FTTC?

[re: MrSaffron] [link to this post]

Edited as I've got clarification...

BT Wholesale still use the profile names of ADSL - so when we order 'Standard' and BT Wholesale say it's standard what they pass on to Openreach is an order for 'Speed'.

With our GEA FTTC orders we order 'Standard' - so that will be the middle (balanced) profile, rather than 'Speed'..

kind regards,
Phil.

In reply to a post by MrSaffron:
What does resetting the IP profile on FTTC achieve?
It is calculated dynamically at every sync from the sync rate, so should not get stuck line in the old ADSL2+ days.

Resetting DLM and letting the line retrain from day 0 might be useful.
A DLM reset was what i meant to say , not the IP profile , i got distracted lol

I thought the mapping between the Wholesale and Openreach DLM profiles is:

BTW "Standard" = Openreach "Speed"
BTW "Stable" = Openreach "Standard"
BTW "Superstable" = Openreach "Stable"

Yep, that's what I've said. On our BTW services we order 'standard' from Wholesale, which is passed on to Openreach as an order for 'Speed'.

ta,
Phil.

So on GEA FTTC, you can actually order "Speed", "Standard" or "Stable".
Can you also modify these during the contract?

Yes, as GEA FTTC is a direct order with Openreach we order the DLM profile using Openreach's names.

They should be changeable in-contract without resetting the term (unlike a shift from standard to elevated traffic profiles, and vice-versa). We've not tried yet though - as the understanding was that we were already using 'Speed' - but we've found that isn't the case.

regards,
Phil.

So for me, what does all that mean?

I have been told that:

"The circuit is currently on a 'Standard' DLM profile mode."

"the profile that the DLM has selected should be sufficient"

So is that Openreach speed profile name or a Zen one?

And poor little old me is left in the dark. Now I have no idea if my profile is really on standard or speed, cos I am told standard.
