Burton still wouldn't have FTTC if it wasn't for a local enthusiast who started a campaign. The new MP, who never sees a bandwagon without leaping on board got involved and FTTC was brought forward by about 3 years.

Three or four years prior to this, South Derbyshire Council saw the potential and dragged some senior BT folks in front of one of their committees. As a result compared to Burton, Swadlincote has always had better broadband. Burton Council sound pretty pathetic when it comes to planning for the future.
