Welcome to zen john and trust you will have a better experience then with that of BT
How are you finding the new router the ZyXEL VMG1312-B10D
For me it works very well with no problems whatsoever
Thanks. BT was generally OK but I was getting increasingly annoyed with their pricing/packages policy. They seemed Hell-bent on keeping the BB and Phone accounts "out of sync" making it difficult to find the right moment to leave.
So, as they just "changed" their prices (to use their expression = increased them to most of us), it was an opportunity to leave. Even then they wanted to charge me an early-leaving penalty.... although, possibly, Zen's policy of swapping BB first and Phone later didn't help in that regard.
The ZyXEL VMG1312-B10D works well enough for me. I've read reports that the wireless range isn't as good as the BT HomeHub5 but the signal on my mobile phone seems pretty-much the same with either router. I suppose it depends on what other signals are potentially interfering to some extent.
I'd set the ZyZEL up as soon as it arrived (about a week before activation) so it literally was plug in and go.
From the comment below, it seems that, like most companies, ZyXEL can't just update firmware without making unnecessary changes (the prompt in this case by the looks of it). Which is a pain when you're trying to develop software tools for it! But, other than that, the User Interface is cleaner than the HomeHub's. The only quirk I've noticed is in Port Forwarding. You can set TCP *or* UDP. Most routers allow you to set both.
