Digital voice questions

[link to this post]

Hi I’ve just found out I can get FTTP, I’ve spoke to zen sales on the phone and they were very helpful. What I’m still unsure of is hardware requirements for digital voice. Im unsure if I’ll have to use the Fritz box to connect up our current analogue dect phones or do is there a way to use your own hardware. I don’t use the Fritz box and currently use an Asus ac router but I’ll be moving to a Wifi 6 router with the speed of the packages Available. Thanks for any help.

Suggest you will have more success posting this in the VOIP section of this forum

Thanks I read up on it and realised digital voice from the isp isn’t amazing and we don’t really need a landline. I’ve placed an order for zen 900 ultrafast.

If you just want a VOIP line for the occasional incoming call (handy for "grandma" and the likes who may not have a mobile) AAISP will rent you a VOIP line for £1 (+VAT) ie £1.20 pm. No inclusive calls and outbound charges are per minute

I had a FTTC connection with landline phone via PlusNet and separately had FTTP installed from Zen. Once I was happy with FTTP I ported my landline number from PlusNet to AAISP (which happily had the effect of ceasing my PlusNet FTTC connection).

AAISP charge £15 to port your number in see here

This ISP Preview article is informative about porting

The standard supplied Zen Router (Fritzbox 7530) has the ability to connect to a VOIP provider (or you can purchase your own ATA adapter)
