Router: Fritzbox 7530

I never understood why Plusnet did that and then they changed it to 40 Mbps down 2 Mbps up product which was even more stupid. Customers that complained were then put 55/10, it was a bit of a mess.

Money cost! That's why BT take over PN and stopped sold 40/20 FTTC.

It happened after PN were taken over. Long after.

Connections: OnePlus 8 Pro, 4G+ (LTE) max 165Mbps down, 24Mbps up on Three Mobile, and B311 4G+ router, tbb tests normally 35-45Mpbs down, 65Mbps off-peak, 9-24 up.

BT bought Plusnet in 2007.

The commercial launch of FTTC by BT was in January 2010.

In trying to link the stopping of the sale of 40/20 by Plusnet with the purchase of them by BT you are talking utter rubbish.

40/20 got dropped and those users migrated to 55/10 in 2016 - Link to Plusnet forum thread (I know because I was one of those on 40/20) - which was after BT brought them in 2007 and before they became part BT Consumer in 2018 Wiki Link - however it may have a lot to do with Paula Smith becoming CFO in 2016 moving from Openreach
