Do Zen Provide 80/20 over FTTP?

[link to this post]

Does Zen sell FTTP at 80/20 and is the cost the same as FTTC?

My situation is that I live in a rural location and have an FTTC connection with Zen which has 900m of copper between my property and the cabinet. The max sync my line can get is 38Mbps down, with upstream of 7 Mbs.

Openreach are currently pulling fibre through the ducts in the area and I've had an email from Openreach to say FTTP will be available soon in my postcode.

I work from home as a web developer and the major pain at the moment is the 7 Mbps upload speed, as it takes ages to upload assets onto remote servers. I'd be looking at migrating to FTTP on an 80/20 connection which would probably be sufficient for our current family needs.

So, do Zen offer an 80/20 FTTP package with migration from FTTC?

If so is the cost the same as the FTTC 80/20 package?

Has anybody been through the migration and know what is involved?

I'm happy to get rid of our copper line as we use our mobiles for voice.

Thanks

Their cheapest FTTP package is Full Fibre 100 for £38.99 a month.

I am on 100/20 which I would say is close enough to 80/20. Engineer (contractor) came out, fitted ONT where I wanted it (garage) and CSP on outside wall. I asked to to bother connecting the old copper back up as I was moving to fibre only. Could not have been simpler! More than happy now as FTTC was 60/15 and not very stable. Been 100% since on fibre (April 2021).

Thanks, that's really useful information.

Do you know if Zen cease the copper connection on the same day as the fibre install or did they wait until the fibre is confirmed live?

I'm just paranoid about been left without a connection for a period of time
having had a very bad experience with a Plusnet ADSL -> FTTC migration that took 6 weeks and a high level complaint to resolve.

I realise Zen are better at customer service than Plusnet, so that reassures me to some degree.

I just changed my ethernet lead from my router (using my own) from the VDSL modem to the ONT and it logged in and just worked.

A day or two later the cease information about the VDSL was sent via email.

As they are two separate services there is no issues with one having to stop for the other to work

When I switched, they waited for me to phone them and confirm that my FTTP was fully working before ceasing the old FTTC service. Even then, it wasn't cut off until the end of the day.
