Best wait for the un-migration to be completed else you're going to tie yourself up in knots which may prove to be unnecessary.

I agree.

OK, so obviously not 'meant to be'!

Tried with a couple of firewall router distro's, but seems they don't play with my hardware. In desperation, tried Windows Server with RRAS, but even though that runs on same hardware as my Windows 10 box, only gives 130 down not the 520 down that Windows 10 sees - It can't therefore be 'hardware', so seems all I can do is wait for Migration to unhappen, which it still hasn't.

The best laid plans ..... etc

Hopefully any manual tweaks Openreach did on their side after the original GEA migration (to see if they could find a resolution for Zen) will be reverted as well.

Have you tried enabling TCP Timestamps on Windows to see if that improves things. I think MAC has this enabled by default where Windows doesn't.

Command prompt as administrator:

Text
1
netsh int tcp set global timestamps=enabled

and reboot and see if that has any affect. Timestamps helps the connection optimise for retransmissions and is more useful the faster the connection.

I've now got access to the Samknows dashboard. At least it should be obvious when things are fixed as the increase will be fairly extreme

Nobody likes to be in an information vacuum, I do accept that this sort of a problem can be very hard to isolate, and then to fix, but we reported this quite a time ago, and there is no real update (aside from we will send someone out..... sometime). For my part, my internet speed is down at less than 50% of what I pay for for the past 2 1/2 weeks, which is inconvenient to say the least as my job is performance testing IT systems.

I am waiting to see what eventually transpires, but it does seem to be dragging on with little update as to what is happening.

This is the problem - you don't pay for any speed you pay for up to a certain speed on a best effort basis - if your work is that important get a leased line or something with an SLA

This coming from someone who shells out £250 a month just to get a reliable internet connection - so I am not sniping just trying to point out the obvious

Threads like this make me glad I have a Talk Talk Leased Line - I can call up anytime and an engineer calls within 30 minutes and it's all fixed in 5 hours - only had to do that once when a cable was cut - but you lot expect too much for a shared best effort consumer service!

I sincerely hope you get value for money for £3000 a year!

I have been 100% happy with the Zen package, and BT Business FTTP package I had before, neither of those were even over £1000 a year, but guess if you live in the sticks it's the price you pay (I used to live in the back of beyond, BT offered me leased line (128Kbps) for a mere £12,500 per year, and that was 1990's.) I did then go with Demon ISDN, and a satellite download package, but even that was way cheaper than £2000 a year all in, and I got effectively 128K up, and 2Mbps down).

Zen are taking the obvious issue seriously now, and things are being done. I am sure it will be back to normal in a few days, meantime, they have waived charges, but I can still get 200Mbps down and 70Mbps up.

There are many ways of doing things, and I see you are happy with your way, as I am with mine. I did indeed have an SLA with BT business, but it wasn't worth a dime when the fibre was broken by a digger, save for the 4G dongle they gave me.

I can call up anytime

Except from 6pm to 8am..... Not quite 'anytime' ! Not sure how that sits with the 5 hour SLA you quote?

Do you work for Talk Talk?

Talktalk's leased lines come with 24/7 UK based support.
