This coming from someone who shells out £250 a month

I sincerely hope you get value for money for £3000 a year!

I have been 100% happy with the Zen package, and BT Business FTTP package I had before, neither of those were even over £1000 a year, but guess if you live in the sticks it's the price you pay (I used to live in the back of beyond, BT offered me leased line (128Kbps) for a mere £12,500 per year, and that was 1990's.) I did then go with Demon ISDN, and a satellite download package, but even that was way cheaper than £2000 a year all in, and I got effectively 128K up, and 2Mbps down).

Zen are taking the obvious issue seriously now, and things are being done. I am sure it will be back to normal in a few days, meantime, they have waived charges, but I can still get 200Mbps down and 70Mbps up.

There are many ways of doing things, and I see you are happy with your way, as I am with mine. I did indeed have an SLA with BT business, but it wasn't worth a dime when the fibre was broken by a digger, save for the 4G dongle they gave me.

I was not digging at anyone in particular - and I can see you have experience of it as well - BT Business SLA's are pants in comparison. I wish I did live in the sticks the cost might be justified - but I live in a big city in the North East and it does look like Cityfibre will be here by the end of the year so I figure I will look at it again when my LL contract ends which is in about 14 months. Want to get everyone jumping on it and all the congestion issues.

think I get value yes I've had 2 instances in the past 14 months. 1 was caused by someone cutting MY cable running along the side of my office (for which an engineer was here within 40 mins and it was fixed in about another 20 mins - and the fault was reported at 1:41am. and i've had 21 hours of downtime due to a problem in the pavement. Let's just say I got about 6 months free service as a result of service credits/cash back

I am just the sort of person who A want's to download a lot of stuff and B does not want to be slowed down by others, nor do I want to slow others down. Also as I said there is not even Virgin here - but I couldn't operate on 51mbps upload. I am an Architect and the last schematic I uploaded was 650GB and it was on a deadline.

But who knows - maybe when CF comes here I can kill my LL and get a LL via a CF provider which I hope will cut the cost down a bit.

I can call up anytime

Except from 6pm to 8am..... Not quite 'anytime' ! Not sure how that sits with the 5 hour SLA you quote?

Do you work for Talk Talk?

Well no it is - because I have a 24/7 phone number and e-mail address I can use - hence the SLA

No I am a very successful Architect

A stab in the dark:

Has anyone tried playing with MTU settings to see if they make a difference?

I think you're a fantasist, considering your claims of having a lease line it actually appears to be your Boss who has it.
In reply to a post by Username26:
My Boss just had a leased line put in
I suspect if he/she is actually the architect and that isn't also make believe he/she wouldn't be too happy you're taking the credit for his/her achievements.

I agree @dect - the post history is inconsistent. The smell of bovine excrement is strong with this one...

If only these fantasists could keep their story straight between posts, this one has only been registered here for 2 weeks and couldn't keep it going for even that amount of time. Looking at the planning for the Building Zen are in I'm not sure our alleged architect was even out of school when it was built.

Not a single thing in this thread they posted has been remotely helpful. Only serving to antagonise the OP with nonsense and fantasy to make themselves feel superior. How sad and pathetic.

Someone else with a long memory smile (BTwoolsale vs Cisco Express Forwarding?)

Changing MTU should be simple to try (and to revert if it doesn't help), so why not give it a go?

Has anyone mentioned WireShark or similar IP-disassembler to keep an eye on low level traffic characteristics somewhere?

just passing, may not be around again for a while, but maybe others can step in.
