That sounds like it’s not a widespread / common issue: either faulty equipment or a misconfiguration.

I think the opposite if its a misconfiguration as they are likely to have been misconfigured by the same person frown

Practically certain to be faulty equipment,, but could have been a batch so more than one set in the network.

Misconfiguration should be able to be sorted in live, even if it means a short downtime. Most Core equipment has two software partitions a live and a standby for upgrade purposes. You load the new software to the standby side then switch across and if it all works correctly upgrade the standby, (if it has issues you fall back to the old side ).

Could have been a faulty batch of chips used due to chip shortage caused by Covid.

Today's update:

Test kit is now monitoring all parts of the connection and test data has been being sent on to a supplier.

Said supplier want further time to analyse the data before coming back to Zen with next steps.

Have Zen changed / brought on board a new supplier in this space I wonder?

Anyway good luck as always with the continuing resolution.

Thanks.

Just had an update to say that they should hear back from the supplier on Monday.

Just had a call. Connection is down as apparently the Openreach optical line card failed when running routine diagnostics.

I came to the air conditioned office today to avoid the hot weather... No one is home so no one noticed.

Openreach say a new card should be up and running by around 15:30...

I've been asked to run tests when I get back later... We shall see what they bring

What a coincidence (or not) that the line card failed. Perhaps it was already failing and simply not flapping enough to be detected by diagnostics.

This is precisely what the fault manager at Zen said to me. He's very interested in what my test results will be later on.

So, ONT looks ok but PPPoE timeout on the router. Great 👍

Hope it's sorted soon
