Think it would be good to hear from Andrew or Brandon about the bigger issue but I don't expect we will.

It could be considered commercial-in-confidence / they may be prevented from posting the details in a public forum…

I still have faith in Zen and I am still hopeful that they will sort it out.

The good news as I see it is that Zen have taken note of my issues, and they are, (as I see it), doing their best to help which to me means that they are still a very good ISP to be with.

Last week they sent their own in house engineer to our house, (I had hoped before his arrival that he would be checking the Openreach stuff but it seemed to be more a check of my set up)..

When he plugged his company windows Laptop directly into the ONT he had low speeds on his Windows Laptop. - (Next he apparently reset the ONT and apparently he then had good speeds on his MAC Laptop). Since it started I had already reset the ONT a number of times which did not seem to make any difference and since the performance has been erratic his having witnessed the poor speed result means that he saw the problem and I did not find any difference after he had left.

I spoke with Zen over the phone and they are .planning to move my connection back to BTW. but I do not know when that will take place.

On Monday it did seem a little better with better browsing and Tuesday is was quite good most of the day with good browsing and speeds, (yesterday/Wednesday it started off good and then when back down the toilet and today it is mostly around the 500 mbps mark with visits to 200 mbps.

On Monday I seemed to be connected around Keele and right now I seem to be connected via the West Country/Bath/Gloucester/Newbury

Have others. who have been put back onto the BTW system. found that the change back to BTW has cured the issues?

On a side issue: This thread is getting to be enormous. - Could we set a PART 2 thread of the same name as a follow on to this thread (refering back to this thread as needed) or is that not allowed/possible.

Moving back to BTW has had 100% success rate so far (sample size of three)

Don't forget this thread started on 29th March 2022 over 3 months ago and all the pain and heavy lifting of getting the initially extremely slow Zen to do something has already been done by the members here, if you was here at the start of the thread and felt the frustration due to the lack of progress then you may have a different opinion by now.

I have considerable experience here! BEWARE, I was getting perfect speeds using PPPOE directly on my Mac equipment, but when the router (any router) was used, the speeds tumbled. Seems to be down to how the TCP stack handles disconnections, but whilst the results were variable, it is certain that 'great' speeds from a PPPOE connected computer does NOT translate to 'the connection is OK'.

YES! (But I think the number is just one (me)), does anyone else know different? (FakeJake was a new second installation, not a backwards migration, and I don't actually know of anyone else back migrated.

It could be considered commercial-in-confidence / they may be prevented from posting the details in a public forum…
Great that you are going back to BTW, but this suggests that Zen don't actually understand the root cause of the problem (FakeJake is obviously an aberration?)

Seems that this whole 3 plus month fiasco is set to run and run.....

In truth, the title describes the symptom, not the cause, however, perhaps it's best the thread grows, as it serves to display the disruption being experienced?

I suspect the issue is that the backhaul from the exchange to the core POP is contended.

Please go back and read this thread as it will become very clear that its not as simple as that.
