Maybe I've set a trend going 🤣

Good luck!
Hmmm, life is a journey....... Fortunately I am 'time rich' at the moment..... And, as long as I have a good connection to fall back to, it won't really matter. I really don't know what this will uncover, but Zen believe they are close to the actual problem.... We'll see. It will certainly give me another chance to (hopefully) give some value to this group.

Am I right in saying that the legacy 4 port ONT won't do more than 1 Gbps in total?

I did read that somewhere, but I can't say I noticed any issues having 2x 900 services on it.

Perhaps I was lucky and the Samknows tests only happened when I wasn't downloading anything on the other connection.

I've been exclusively using the GEA connection for a while now so there wasn't a lot of time where I was using both services at the same time

So what 'actual' difference do you see between the two lines now Jake?

Wouldn't it be 'lovely' if both lines could be aggregated ........

Firstly will be interesting to see if the issue returns once your original service is migrated again and if so I wonder if Zen will get Openreach to do to your OLT/L2S what they did to Jakes to see if it also resolves the issue for you (assuming both are from the same manufacturer).

Not much at all. The GEA line has about half a millisecond less latency. That's the only difference I've observed.

Hmmm, that's interesting, so it seems the gain to 'us' is very limited, and the whole exercise is therefore for Zen's benefit (cost cutting perhaps)? That puts an interesting slant on things............

There's the potential for better gains depending on how different the route into Zen's core network is between their own backhaul and BTW. In my case, both connect to Zen in London, hence the miniscule difference.

I imagine if you're further north, then if Zen's backhaul goes to Manchester instead of London, you could get reduced latency to Manchester based services.

I have no idea if this setup actually exists though, it's just me speculating.

On the business side, once you get to a certain scale, i imagine it becomes cheaper and simpler to cut out the middle man in theory...

Unless you end up with unforseen issues 😬
