For users with fixed IPv6 allocations I'm not convinced the changing address makes that much difference. Although it makes tracking a little more complex the random IPv6 addresses all come from the same subnet - the size of which will vary by provider so providing a bit more uncertainty as to wether 2 different visits are from the same place or not than with a single fixed IPv4 address. In multi-user housholds there's already a bit of a grey area thee anyway

Personally I'm less conceerned about any privacy concerns from having a fixed IP address allocation than I would be about getting a random address that a previous user had abused. - and as I do run a couple of private l servers the fixed IP makes it a little simpler than messing with DynamicDNS services.

A dynamic ip has a fair few disadvantages, the only advantage of having one I think is if you are being a naughty boy, or if someone is dos'ing you on a static.

The companies who have setup tools to track people are designed to work regardless if ip is static or not, this is because the majority of consumers dont have static ips.

As an example I am seeing lots of mobile related tracking, and that is on cgnat. Getting notified when friends and family join telegram, my landlord joining tiktok etc.

Personally I'd say being able to remote into your home network over your own VPN when away from home by far has more privacy and security advantages, and that's a lot easier using a static IP.

Sure you can use Tailscale with dynamic, but then you're still trusting a third party to establish the connection.

I can geoblock and block bad actors on my home router and know they are blocked when I'm away from home too if I'm on the VPN.
