Speed problems

Is anyone seeing speed problems at the moment, I'm on BBYW Pro and although I sync at 8128 and my router stats are good I'm currently just seeing speeds of just over 4mbps this is despite moving gateways, I was seeing just over 2mbps on one gateway earlier, just wondered if anyone else was in the same boat, I'll have to migrate I think

Currently on thn-ag3. I'm on PAYG (same priority as Pro) but also have Max Premium which gives higher priority on the BT network.

Which exchange are you on?

A very minor one I've added to the thread on poor performance on the community site, interestingly just dropped connection and it's come back at this

http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtest/results/id/1... whereby it was giving me a previous speedtest of just over 4mbps, there is no difference in my router stats although now I thing about it there was a drop in the connection about a week ago maybe they're fiddling round with the exchange and haven't told anyone I'll keep and eye on it anyway and see how it goes

My speeds were quite low last night, down below 2Mbps, instead of the usual 4Mbps. I suspect my exchange is congested, though depending on whether I use the Plusnet, or Nildram checker, it's been either green or red for the past few months up to present.

Which exchange are you on?

Our exchange checker was last updated on 04 Jan 10 so the information should be up to date.

there was an outage apparently on 27th Dec in village on the outskirts and I did drop connection around that time, dropped again last night and come back at a much better speed, if they had a problem with the mux in the village would they divert anything from the town exchange till they got a fix, just curious as we have the same std code

I doubt it, as AIUI the signals are sent from the kit in the exchange that the other end of your phone line is wired to. if anything was diverted it would still have to go through the (presumably faulty) kit in your own exchange on the way through.

Yes, ive also been having issues for the past 2 weeks or so, I purely use my connection for gaming to which im used to <30ms to any UK servers I use, lately this has been flying up to unusable highs of 100ms+ constantly. After changing gateways a number of times it comes back down to normal. When having issues and I try a speedtest its dropped around 2mbit lower than what I would expect it to be, upload bandwidth remains unchanged.

I've been with Plusnet for nearly 2 years now and this is the first type of problem ive had like this, previously these are the sort of issues which cause me to move ISP as its "normally" due to oversubscribed pipes, im not saying this is the case for Plusnet but it has been for my 2 previous ISP's.

Im on the Pro package and have also been regraded to Max Premium.
