Sync rate dropping.

[link to this post]

I signed up with Sky, all went well and I was connected on the 25th February.

My estimated speed is 3.5Meg, my initial sync speed was 2045 kbps.

Since then I have had two sync events, the second sync speed was 1543 kbps.

This morning I have there has been another sync event, this time down to 1019 kbps.

Stats are as follows:

ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1019 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 52 db 32 db
Noise Margin 20 db 12 db

Is this just a case of wait for my 10 training period to come to and end or is it an indication of a problem?

The line in question is only about 6 months old and has the pre filtered face plate, no extensions or any other devices plugged into it.

Is sync remains at 1019 and margin is 20dB after a reboot, then looks like they've locked you to 1Meg

They being sky

I am in the middle of an ongoing saga with Sky regarding my variable,(decreasing), sync rates since the start of Feb. I am currently, within the hour, expecting a visit from the Open Reach engineer requested by Sky - we shall see what the outcome is.
When it is resolved - I will let people know, contact me for details on how to escalate your problem beyond the first level of support, worked a treat for me.

Well I have just rebooted the router and I am synced at..........
ADSL Link Downstream Upstream
Connection Speed 1019 kbps 796 kbps
Line Attenuation 53 db 32 db
Noise Margin 20 db 12 db

Is this worth chasing up with Sky as I am within the cooling off period I think, I would prefer not to get tied in if it means such a low speed.

I am on the unlimited package, I knew when I signed up I would only get around 3.5Meg but I chosse that package due to the fact we both work form home and didn't want to worry about download limits.

You need to get Sky to reset your target SNR margin - it's too high.

Waste of time, Sky has control of the DSLAM, NOT Openreach

They did quote to you the terms of such a visit? ie If no fault found you will be charged?
