I can totally understand your dads frustration , but it would seem foolishly , TalkTalk are more concerned with getting new customers than looking after the ones they already have .
Putting up the price of there IPstream product whilst unbundling your fathers exchange , and then not moving him will and has lost them a customer and understandably .
But i don't see BT as any better than TalkTalk , its a bit like out of the frying pan and into the fire .
As you dad already as a active ADSL connection he can migrate to one of the many 1 month rolling contract premium ISP , which is much better than the 18month rolling contract he is just about to tie him self into .
Even Plusnet a BT owned company would be a better contractual choice than the 18 month rolling contract BT offer new customers .
If he is going to stay on BT infrastructure he should reap the rewards , and that would be the freedom to move when he wants and not when his contract is up .
