Setting up issue

[link to this post]

Help please

I created a wired connection between the wireless BT voyager 2110 and my PC (Wired Network socket to RJ-45 Ethernet socket respectively)

I got to the Configuration Manager screen (http://voyager.home), input my details, pressed connect, and, after a while, got the message 'your BT voyager is ready to connect to the internet"

BUT, when I open IE there is no internet access. And the internet button on my router does not light up.

Why is this happening?

(PS I dont have a wireless adapter on my PC which is why I have to use ethernet connection)

Welcome,

Well I assume that the DSL light on the router is on and has stopped flashing? If not then you either have a wiring problem, a faulty DSL microfilter, a faulty router or BT wholesale either haven't finished or have made a mistake configuring their end.

But assuming the light is on and has stopped flashing, indicating that you have a DSL connection, then it is probably due to not having authenticated correctly. This is either because you have made a typing error while entering your login details, or because something is wrong at PlusNet's end (or there could be a problem with BT's config). Once you have checked your login details I would suggest that you call PlusNet support and get them to check their end (though they will probably want to walk you through setting up your end again as this is where most mistakes are made). They are generally very good and are very used to solving this kind of problem.

After you have hit the 'Connect'' button, a few seconds later you should get a 'Connected' message. Does this happen? Which lights are showing green on your router? Is the one for DSL constant green? If not, that is your problem.

Apparently one of the most common errors in entering the user name is to miss off the @plusdsl.net bit.

Have you entered your username and password correctly into the router?

i.e. your user name for the router is [email protected] and the password is the one you chose at signup.

And of course, it's plusdsl.net, not plusds1.net.

Thanks guys for all the suggestions.

I'm online now. It was the "@plusdsl.net" wot did it.
