I'm getting a bit worried, just checked in the members section and no router order been placed and the install date is on monday, getting close now.
How soon or near to the install date do routers usually get sent out getting FTTC.

They leave it to the absolute last minute so that if everything works perfectly, the Post Office deliver next day and before the time of your engineer appoint you will have it in time.

Had a txt this morning saying router on its way, great i thought, just about 20mins again post man knocked and he as the router that was quick i thought, so all ready for the change over to PN on monday morning.
I think this as been talked about but is there a 10 day training of FTTC like ADSL as, the reason i ask is i'm thinking of swapping the router to a Asus RT-N66U, but i think it is the best way is to use the PN router first get up and working, but i don't wanna swap out router and it'll mess my 10 day training.

Fibre 24-48 hours

DLM starts on the day after install, unless severe instability is detected. So swapping the router on the day of installation will not affect line training.
And it's the modem that is involved in the DLM process rather than the router (they will be separate in your FTTC installation). So no problem swapping the router, just leave the modem alone for a couple of days.

ok thanks wasn't sure, the modem won't be turned off, i can play around with the routers without any impacted on 10 day training of FTTC.

Fiddling and turning the FTTC modem off/on a lot on day 342 of it running would generate the same DLM reaction as if it was in the first few days.
The training is not some period that runs once, but rather can react to line changes at any time, but generally lines settle down to a fairly steady state within a couple of days.

Just remembered something, i'll need the static ip as soon as i'm up and running on fibre when i goto the members section, and click add on, will i need to reboot the modem or router for it to take effect?
I don't think i can add the static ip at the moment can i ?
The router and the PPPoE session it creates should resolve any changes in IP information, so no need to fiddle with the openreach modem

No need to even reboot the router. From memory it just updated my router IP automatically... or are my grey cells getting a bit fuzzy these days??

Well its D-day tomorrow, the moring slot, how are openreach like for turning up for the timed slot now days, will i see them knocking on door at 8am or will it be a last min rush.
Ayway i hope everything goes without problems, its not like i'm on a LLU migration.

Yes, there would have to be a new PPPoE session or a DHCP request from the router.
So a reboot of router would do it then?
It would, but just closing and re-starting the PPP connection should do it.

How do u go about doing that?

I think it's in the Plusnet TG582n GUI, but I don't use mine so not sure. It's only a minor issue anyway, as a reboot does the job. Just takes a tad longer.
Edit - typos.

Yes, it's on the main page of the router. There's a "Disconnect" button. If you just power off the router I have found that the PPPoE session doesn't get dropped (as the router doesn't also incorporate the modem, the DSLAM doesn't see the line drop and clear the PPPoE session). So you then have to wait for the PPPoE session to time out at the other end before you can reconnect. That usually takes around 8 minutes. Much better to manually drop the session then reconnect again straight away.

HI,
How did the install go?
The install went through ok, got up and running fast, OR guy came around 12:15pm did his stuff, and when it came to getting online, was there in no time. Said in plusnet manual leave it 15mins i left it 5mins and tried google and i was in.
Did speedtest got 73up 16 down and happy on that one
But i'm having a problem with port forwarding of ident, anyone got some insight on that giving me a headache
I take it, in Tools in your router, in Game & Application Sharing, going to 'Create a New Game or Application', you have created one called ident, and given it port 113 TCP. Once done that, assign that newly created ident to your inside/private IP address, ie address of the host where you'd like ident to be applied.

Its all fine, i'm just wondering when does my old provider stop, because i can still login to my account at eclipse, next blling date is 16th, do i need to tell them ?
Don't wanna get billed for a month i when as you can see i'm not with eclipse now.
i can still login to my account at eclipse, next blling date is 16th, do i need to tell them ? I assume you mean your account page on their web site...?
Do they require notice (eg 30 days) and if so, did you give that to them explicitly?
When I left Zen they only charged me up to the date of my migration.
When I left BE I had to give them 30 days notice, which I did on the day I requested my MAC. They then charged me for 30 days from that date.
Someone who recently moved from Sky to Plusnet had a problem with Sky telling them (after migration) that they still hadn't given notice and would continue to be charged (very cheeky!).
Openreach are supposed to tell the losing ISP that a migration away has completed. But that can fail, so it is always wise to ring the old ISP and confirm they are aware.
As to whether you need(ed) to give notice independent of the MAC being requested and used, that's down to the individual T & Cs of the ISP. You need to check those, or ask them.

What happens once I have my MAC?
If you give your MAC Code to another ISP, your Broadband service should switch to your new provider within 5 working days. In this situation, your 30 day notice period will commence on the date that the MAC was issued, and this will be reflected on your final invoice.
Looks like this coming bill will be the last one.
That sounds as if the account will be closed after the 30 days from MAC issue, and relevant payment/refund payments dealt with.
It's still worth confirming with them that they know you have migrated away. I've migrated a few times, and the losing ISP has always known, so I didn't need to tell them, but we sometimes see people here where things have gone wrong and the account stays open and charging.
