Router Password

[link to this post]

A friend hasn't had any broadband for over a week. He's tried switching off the router leaving it for over a minute and reconnecting, without success. He uses a laptop to connect wirelessly. Apparently the "internet" light on his PN supplied router is permanently off.

I've suggested trying a different router. I think I can workout the broadband username as [email protected] but he can't remember the password. Is there any means of obtaining this from PN?

Ditto Plus.net are quite good when calling about this thing. Minimal faffing about.

If you don't know that if you confirm billing/payment information they will give you the password.

Thanks for that Bob. He has that written down so I'll put that into a different router. Just to confirm, the BB username is the same and the password is the same as those used to log in to the member centre?

The member centre login is username and password. The dsl login is [email protected] and password. The two passwords are the same.

Don't forget! If it goes into TR-069 setting up, it can take about 15 minutes to establish the connection , even though the DSL and Internet lights can both be on.

Thanks for that. I'll be using an old Sky Netgear router so auto setup won't happen.

Just an update. On logging in to the PN supplied router I saw that the Internet connection was shown as disconnected. A click of the connect button resolved the problem. One happy customer who had been without an Internet connection for over two weeks.

Would this disconnection be the result of PN 'kicking' the connection, it's worked flawlessly for over 12 months?

No. It's just a statement of the current status I think. I would have thought it would automatically have connected on boot up. The only condition I know of is when TR-069 fails to complete, (it shows Connected though), I was told to click the Disconnect then Connect and that fired up immediately.
