BT 1800HG Router?!

[link to this post]

Hi all,

I finally got my router after about a 3 week wait and it being delivered to the wrong address :-(

Anyways I thought I would be getting a Voyager 2110 but instead I have got a BT1800HG.

Is this router any good? I've been using an old Voyager 2000 for years and its never hung and always been stable during downloads, I'm worried this 2wire router won't be as good.

Does anyone know if I can exchange this router for the Voyager one?

I've had a look on 2wires site and can't find any info about this router.

Thanks in advance

I have used it for many months in wireless mode and like it.
Try this website: http://gateway.2wire.net/xslt?PAGE=A01
PlusNet have set up procedures on their web pages.

The 1800 sits by the front door master socket and is described by my wife as a three eyed bullfrog, notwithstanding it does what it says on the tin.

PN may not supply the CD but all the info is on the PN web site.

It works ok on Vista. Good luck.

Cheers for the reply but I can't get the link to work.

I use XP but haven't used the router yet, would really prefer the Voyager tbh.

Heehee the 3 eyed bullfrog, nice :-)

Here we go again. Have a look at this PN set up guide: http://www.plus.net/support/broadband/hardware/
The colouring can be a bit deceptive, make sure your cursor is on web or pc.

Spec wise, the 2wire kit pretty much beats the voyager hands down. I'm a big fan of 2wire personally too - They always put a lot of good design elements into their units as far as I can see, and things like the parental control options are the best I've seen on any consumer routers out there.

Voyager stocks are getting harder to source and we are planning to move away from this range quite soon.

Cheers for the reply Ian. Thanks for putting my mind at rest :-) I gues thats why it took a little longer to arrive, thats fine though.

Will install the router this afternoon and give it a test, can't believe I'm retiring my old Voyager 2000 after so long.

Cheers Puter for the link :-)

Thanks
Garrie

Hiya

We started sending out the HG1800 recently after having stock issues with the Voyager 2110.

It's also worth pointing out that the Voyager product line is being withdrawn at the end of this quarter and we'll be (and already are) looking into alternative kit.

Hi Puter,

This was previously the case, however we're now sending out inserts with these bits of kit.
