Considering a move to Plusnet Pro

Hi All,

I�m considering migrating to PlusNet (the Pro package at £16.49 per month).

I�d welcome your opinions of the speed/ stabilityof the service and the quality of support.

If your exchange is 21CN enabled you can go onto ADSL2+ with much faster upload and download speeds.
Support is generally OK but any problems and you can bounce it into the Plusnet Forums http://community.plus.net/forum/index.php where it should be sorted.
I can only speak from personal experience but I have found the service very reliable once BT Openreach sorted out my exchange problem
I assume from the price you quoted that you are on a Market 3 exchange otherwise it will increase after 3 months

EDIT: £22.99 is very much cheaper than IDNet's priotity service. A lot depends upton quality of support service. I expect an ISP to work for me not BT.

They did - Plusnet did their best and I had 3 engineer visits but trying to get BT to do a proper job is a bit like pushing water uphill.
I might add that in my case the problem, which was intermittent, was caused by cross talk at the exchange in the DSLAM

You don't get any specialised/priority support by going on to the Pro package, basically it has far less Traffic Management than the other PN packages and is targeted at gamers ....... according to PN

Support is via a ticket system or a phone call and is as good as the agent you are speaking to, in other words it can be a bit of a hit or miss experience but things should improve with time.

You do get very good help from the PN Staff who frequent the Community forums, as well as help from other members.

I recently moved from NewNet (Home M - 12Gb) to PlusNet Pro. My exchange is 21CN. With NewNet I used to have a rock-solid connection with a sync of 6000 - 6400. IP Profile of 5Mb to 5.5Mb. Very steady speeds, so all very good. The only trouble was I started exceeding 12Gb a month towards the end of last year, so had to look for other options (didn't want to spend more than £18 a month!). PlusNet Pro offered me 20Gb at £16.49 a month (Market 3).

I joined at the end of Jan when they introduced their "3 months free" offer, that all worked flawlessly, as did the 50p monthly credit to the person who recommended me.

Speeds for the first 4 weeks on Pro were a little variable while things settled in (IP profile dipped to 4Mb at one point), but it all came good towards the end of Feb and I'm now at a 5.5Mb profile and holding steady (as with NewNet).

Diagnostics and information in the members area far better than NewNet. Never had to call NewNet support, not had to call PlusNet support either, so can't compare either - the service just works - which is all I ask!

Personally If you have the chance for an LLU service then go with that option.

Plusnet as you know, is just a re-badged BT product with all the foibles of the the BT system.

Irrespective of your synch speed you wil be limited to the profile BT gives you. It drops quickly and is very slow to return.

Your upload will be capped circa 640 unless you ask for it to be removed,

Latency is/was high for me. The backhaul PN servers are london based so unless you are close to them you will incur a lag penalty.

Getting a Mac is painful. Ring up - cycle in a holding pattern being told that there is a long wait. - Then when you eventually get to speak to someone , being told you will have to wait 5 days for them to begin the process.

Glad I left them, for me it was not a good move or experience.

Again For me definitely not worth it. and I could not recommend the product.

As the advert goes ... does exactly what it says on the tin. except in for me it didnt.
