Hi there

As of 09:05 this morning the bt speedtest is still showing slightly slower speeds than i would expect

Download speedachieved during the test was - 4469 Kbps
For your connection, the acceptable range of speeds is 600-7150 Kbps.
Additional Information:
Your DSL Connection Rate :8128 Kbps(DOWN-STREAM), 448 Kbps(UP-STREAM)
IP Profile for your line is - 7150 Kbps

There is nothing on my machine eating up bandwidth according to my Lan status dialog.

Are you using a wired or wireless connection to the router?

Happens on both wired and wireless connections. My latest test was on a wired connection.

Have you checked your "Current line speed" on your Plusnet control panel, as orbrey suggested? If it is at 7150 as you have been told, what does a speed test show now?
