Its this way they lie that annoys me,I actually was given an exclusive deal for fibre that was the online deal anyway.I must admit I do not like the sales tactics by sky agents. But they have made it very hard for me to jump at plus-net.

After doing some digging and asking,it seems I am with sky but through BE,I have asked the question today on sky forum and on the private chat with agents, its not the first time they have told me this actually,I forgot they had as I reported speed issues back in march and have been going through my messages.they tell me I do not have DLM on my line, and I have not had it either. As I am still on BE.
A member on skyuser said that it may well be that I am on BE's old equipment and changing my line to them may give sky the opportunity when switching to put me on them properly and this will trigger the DLM.
So I could then maybe loose speed,I'm not sure its a chance I want to take.Just hope plusnet is not congested in my area as there is 90% sky hubs around my property checking on my wifi list

So as i think i mentioned i contacted sky about the plusnet deal. I was offered 2 deals by sky...
Fibre and free line rental = £20 a month
Fibre pro and free line rental = £30 a month. I also requested a free sky booster to try improve the [censored] wireless. They never sent one but credited my account for £22 so i could buy one
Anyway i went for 2nd deal but had a change of mind and contacted sky to cancel the upgrade which they said they would. But i got an email yesterday saying i had been upgraded!
So i have been testing the speeds and i get 74mb download and 19mb upload
This is via a direct wired connection. Using my TRENDnet TPL-308E2K 200 Mbps in the living room ( router in bedroom ) i get 54mb download and 19mb upload
If i connect the trendnet in the same socket as the router upstairs, thus on the same electricity circuit i get 68mb download and 19mb upload
So basically if i put the powerline in any socket in the house it will get the max upload but the download can range from 44-68mb. Just wondering if a better powerline e.g TL-PA6010KIT AV600 Gigabit Powerline would improve the speeds?
Because at the moment i am again thinking about plusnets 40/20 service as i guess i would get the full speeds using my powerlines around the house. I contacted sky again and pointed this out and that my main reason for the upgrade is the faster upload, sky said i have the 30 day cooling period and can still move to plusnet. However the sky guy was warning me off plusnet bigtime ( surprise i know ) because of plusnets traffic management...

How much would it cost you for Plusnet?
What is your primary use for fibre?

That's about right for the homeplug 200 PHY. You should install the PowerPacketUtility from the CD and it will show you the link speed between the plugs (some also have coloured lights).

Simple answer - "it depends". The 500 PHY units with gigabit ethernet connections are usefully better and produce faster speeds most of the time. However every house has different mains wiring and other electrical noise that affects this. You won't know until you try.
You may get better speeds with say an 802.11ac wireless router with 4 antenna MIMO - such as the newish ASUS RT-AC87.
plusnet unlimited fibre - 2 Jun 14 - 470m - 80/20 - Summer/dry sync 55/9.4, Winter/wet sync 52/9.1
15 years broadband (1999 ntl:cable trial) - Asus RT-AC68U with HG612 - BQM - Summer PN speed - Winter PN speed

That depends upon your expectation. I can get over 40Mbps from mine and that's in an extension lead.

50% of max FTTC is probably not "fast". Question is can they do 80Mbps? A 200Mb/s homeplug probably can't.

Indeed, a 500Mbps one might only just about make it with poor wiring.

Recently moved from BT Infinity 2 to PlusNet. Very happy so far.

I agree, I wasn't suggesting they could, but 40Mbps is good enough for nearly all practical purposes and, as ever, if I want full speed I'll use a direct connection.
