Is there no definitive way to find out if you are on interleaving or not?

If you have an unlocked modem you can see.

Pretty easy to unlock HG612 (commonest), search this site or kits. I hear difficult for ECI modem.
Or you can buy an unlocked HG612 on ebay; or a modem router (such as BT HH5 or other more expensive ones) which give at least some stats about the connection and interleaving.

I've not read the whole thing, but from what I picked up, the OP was believes that there had been a change to the traffic management resulting in slow P2P traffic. Someone from Plusnet said that no changes had been made and then they went in to lengthy discussions about gateways. I don't think the OP actually found a reason for why he was seeing what he was seeing though, or is he was back to normal now or not.

Might the "first hop" issue have been fixed by a firmware update?

From September 2001 on BTopenworld Home 500/Home 1000/Home 2000. Then ADSLMax on <n>ildram. Moved to ADSL2+ from ADSL24. I'm now with plusnet on FTTC since 28/05/2014 and loving it... I'm not saying who I work for. Any opinions expressed here are my own.
