Re: FTTP Possible new customer

Hi libf,

If the property is FTTP only, then it'd be a standalone order. Often with these, an ONT is already on site meaning it's only an overnight installation.

As above; I prefer regrading if ADSL is available as I've got a few customers who have been waiting ages for manifolds, trenches, DP's, blockages, wayleaves etc. This is not a necessity though. I'll treat it subjectively case by case.

Having looked in the cupboards in the showhomes they already have the ONT, so hopefully it'll be an easy one to sort out.

Only thing that worried me a little was that the BT checker shows the people who have already moved in as having FTTP available, but the plusnet checker doesn't. I guess maybe there's a lag but I'd rather wait a little while and not have to take a phoneline!

Still a way off moving in though, so now that I know you frequent these forums as well as the plusnet one which is members only, I'll be sure to get in touch here when I have a move in date. Thanks for the very quick response! smile

Hopefully it's an overnight switch on!

I'm pretty sure that's just a choice by PN not to show FTTP available on their checker as they don't yet offer it as an official product, which I think is mainly due to the fact that only a very small percentage of the country has FTTP available to utilise.

Rastus is correct there.

It's not really advertised due to the amount of staff trained on it, as well as the length of some of the meatier provisions.

My EO area and line with Plusnet phone and broadband has just been overlaid with FTTP, with no FTTC options. Are Plusnet still taking "trials" on to an FTTP service? A call to the sales desk didn't offer anything and I don't really want to change to another provider.

I'm hoping it would be a straightforward install too - OR put a joint bay in the pavement right on the edge of my front garden. smile

I wouldn't recommend getting any sort of Fibre Broadband with Plusnet at the moment on account of speed issues seen by some and the decline in customer support...

I would recommend BT for FTTP personally, thought I'm unsure of any others doing FTTP!
