Re: Plusnet - blocked sites.

Hi everyone,

just have a question, not sure if this is the right thread, but since I'm with PlusNet I thought this might be appropriate.

So I was using this website that I've used while living in Germany and it allows me to watch tv-shows... I've used it a few times over here now and a few minutes ago I keep getting this message:
"Access to the websites listed on this page has been blocked pursuant to orders of the high court.

More information can be found at www.ukispcourtorders.co.uk"

so I go to that website, but its not listed... So I open a different website, similar to the first... and it works the first time I go on it... then when I open it again or try and open a link, the same message pops up again... this has now happened about 4 times... And the weirdest thing is, that I restarted my laptop, accessed the website again and it worked, for about a minute before the message came back...

So I used this website https://www.blocked.org.uk/ to see if it has been blocked, but it said that PlusNet has no history of ever blocking this site... but the weirdest thing about it is still that it seems like I'm being "followed around" and as soon as I access a certain website someone blocks it... Is that actually possible or do I have some kind of weird virus that keeps blocking these websites?

Would be thankful for any kind of advice or info anyone can give me.

Cheers

Talktalk have a system like that which follows you around and led to them being nicknamed Stalk-Stalk.

AFAIK it's technology supplied by Huawei.

Are you using Plusnet's DNS servers or something else?

I saw this post recently where PN are blocking a legal site by DNS.

Possibly because plusnet use BT links or something - it's happened before and then stopped.

Testing eg. kat.ph using root DNS servers gets the blocked page like you see.

On blocked.org.uk it's listed as open for plusnet. Maybe it depends on what gateway/some other routing, or maybe the info is out of date.

Cheers for the answers everyone!

Is there anything I can do to get it back? As far as I know the site isn't illegal or anything...

I've changed my DNS server for Firefox to googles 8.8.8.8. ... would it help to do this for the router aswell?

You can change the DNS on your PC or on the router, you can't do it just for one browser. I always do mine in the router, but either should work.
