Thanks to all for comments.
I guess I'm out of date on current usage, what with HD streaming etc.
Cheers
Drew

And 4K streaming which is starting to be used - significantly more bandwidth required than HD.

We usually use about 600-700GB a month and it's never been an issue.

480GB since the 19th Nov so far....

I'm in awe of these master bandwidth guzzlers, as my wife and I used only 10Gb per month on emails and fairly constant browsing on a desktop PC each. A year ago we bought an iPad each as well, and were horrified to see this figure trebled most months. We might watch one iPlayer programme each month, but no more.

We used to use less than 10gb a month (our cap) but since fibre arrived (unlimited), judging on what we've used so far in our first month, we'll be hitting in excess of 100gb. And having just got streaming hooked up in the house, I have no doubt we'll be hitting 200gb a month before long without any difficulty.

446.64GB since 5TH nov
457.09GB oct > nov
232.24GB sept > oct

Doesn't surprise me to be honest, if I buy any games they tend to be digital downloads, some of those are easily 50GB these-days, most of the TV I watch is via VOD services.

I remember something about a "Bad Boys Pipe" where those who are classed as heavy users get lumped onto together so as to protect network capacity - haven't heard anything about it though for a while

That pre-dates fibre in my view. I wouldn't have joined PN back in 2014 if they still had this sort of thing. It may also pre-date the acquisition of PN by BT.

I think it was people who used more than 10GB a month - which today would be laughable, when Windows Update for one computer at home can be 1.1GB - and people have lots of computers around a home. Nevermind tablets and phones etc.

plusnet unlimited fibre 80/20 since 2 Jun 14 / Sync 6th Nov: 58,280/10,784 kbps with G.INP

It does indeed. I started off with ADSL in 2001 with Zen. I can't remember exactly when I joined PlusNet but say for the sake of argument it was 2005 The bad boy pipe was during the time I was with them so about 2005-2008.

It certainly did pre-date both the BT acquisition and fibre

Yup, bad boy pipe was 2004, 2 years before the BT acquisition.

Oliver.
