migration

I've bitten the bullet and asked for my MAC from Newnet. Difficult to do after 5 years but with the bbc iplayer etc my bandwidth needs are greater than they can provide at reasonable cost. I look forward to joining as soon as I can. Thans to Robert for the push in this direction.

I've rec'd my router login and password by email, does that mean I can log in now or do I have to wait for the secret passwordsmile

It'll probably work by now - give it a go. Make sure that you log in via www.aaisp.net - weird things happen if you go in via www.aaisp.com smile

Won't try again for a while it'll upset the exchange.

Sorry, when you said "Shall I log in now", I thought you meant logging in on their web site. Have you tried that ? Just select Broadband on the website, and log in with the username and password that you were issued. When you get your router from AAISP, it will include a booklet telling you all about DNS settings, etc, but you can continue using open DNS if you want.

Did'nt bother to ask for the router, I've got 2 already. Sorry I was not clear about the login. I'll try again to get into the website login again later when I've finished work.

Is the router login [email protected]? Seems very short having been used to the long NN one.

Yeah thats the one. Have only been with AA since Monday thought user ID was a bit weird. I've been really impressed with the speeds of the service so far. I have had a solid 12megs at all times. Much better than entanet where my speeds were extremely poor to say the least.

Thanks, now all I have to do is work out why the internet is not working. They gave a ip addy but cannot see how to change this on a speedtouch 585 or do I change this through tcp/ip on each computer?

Set the router IP to the router reserved IP in your block, then set the DHCP pool to 5. If you want to allocate specific IPs to specific computers, you can use the routers DHCP reserved list, or turn off DHCP altogether and set the IPs manually via TCP/IP as you say.

Thanks, I forgot the most important thing to set up on cable. Damn, have not moved in 5 years so its a bit fuzzy. Will try again tomorrow as I've done it a few times today, to many more and they'll put my sr way up again.
Good night and thanks.
