Wireless Range extenders

I was just wondering if anyone has used wireless range extenders with the homehub.

I want to try and get a better signal up stairs and am looking in to this.

Would love to knowif you can use this or similar with the homehub to increase the signal around the house

is the existing aerial a rp sma one or do you have to actually do something to it / get some connector to do that with

I use the Netgear XE102/WGX102 using the house wiring to extend the range upstairs. It works very well.

The existing antenna is the connector he mentioned.

By the looks of things he has most likely opened the home hub up. Removed the back cover, cut a bigger hole in the plastic and installed a larger antenna.

would be great if it is rp-sma aerial interface and you just need to do that as you can get higher gain aerials for only a few quid

But higher gain antennas become directional - so all that is gained is extended range in one direction, whilst loosing range in all others.

Was in the same position and needed to boost a very low signal (one bar) so I went out and bought the Linksys Range Expander. After installing the expander it ended up boosting the signal to full strength I was shocked! (granted I do have a Linksys router)

You can buy one from amazon and if you scroll down the to reader reviews someone has managed to get it work with the BT home hub and has included instructions on how to set it up.

I have seen higher gains to 5 or 6 still being omni directional .. i agree after that they seem to get directional but that would probably still be double the output of the standard aerials on these routers

Omni in a horizontal direction, just flatter probably.
