Recently BT sucks, Everyone is complaining about it ...and the situation is getting worse. In another thread somebody posted the email of the CEO: [email protected]. I have sent the following email to this address and I strongly urge others to join me in doing so by sending similar emails. The only way they are going to take notice is if enough people complain.

well good luck with it. i'm sure you'll get an apology but don't expect much else. as you well know, there is nothing wrong with your pc, your router, your line or the exchange. this is the service that bt provide. it's no accident or fault. this is what users can expect from now on.
if you're tied into a contract hopefully you can ask to leave without penalty. that's really should be your primary objective. because nothing is going to change.

Look at my results for tonight: http://bbs.adslguide.org.uk/showthreaded.php?Cat=&Board=bt&Number=3062663
I have had Sky+ installed today. The installer used to work for Cable and Wireless, and now he also installs broadband for Sky. I have had BT round to my house to check the line to see if it is faulty, I have gone form 4Mb to 1 - 1.5Mb over the last few months. Sky installer tested my line and found faults, it came to his attention because my new Sky+ box would not call home, BT engineers have been out three times and found no fault. Lucky BT haven't charged me, the nice engineers put it down as "faulty overhead cable leading to premises" so I didn't have to pay.

Got a call from the managing director of BT last night, turns out that is actually the email address of the CEO Certainly makes a change talking to somebody whos knows what they are talking about.
Apparently I am getting this level of throttling because my average monthly usage is

Unfortunately, I found that while my Sky+ was connected to the phone line, it drastically reduced my broadband speed. After my initial year was up, I disconnected the telephone connection to the Sky box and rate went up by 1mb. Annoying but true. Hope yours is not the same.

the actual managing director? All I got was a very nice lady in his office! Still she offered me a nice amount of compensation so I was happy with that. The CEO office seems to be the best bit if you can get hold of them.

Well there is no change to my connection today so it seems that he lied.

I had that too, but my Sky (ordinary digi) box has been unplugged from the phone line now for just over 1.5 years now. Infact maybe much longer come to think of it.
It was creating a lot of noise at times, not on the phone itself but for the Broadband. Lots of signal interrupts.

vodoun saith: "Why wont they allow people to login somewhere to monitor their usage, do they have something to hide? like switch peoples usage about and throttle cap people at will? At least with the ISP I'm with I can monitor the usage. "
Exactly, that is what is in the T & C. They shape who they want when they want. I had this confirmed by the CEO and the Chairmans office. Do a search on here for the number to call to find which shaping level you are on, I dont have it to hand.
Shame that so many of the threads in here go around in circles with people trying to reinvent the wheel, use the search function and you will learn a lot.
