Stuck at 160k - options

[link to this post]

Hi,

I'm quite far out from the exchange, but my line has sat quite happily at 512/768k for the past 2 years.
I've recently had a line fault, which was cleared by the engineer replacing the dropwire, and line into the DP. Since then I've been unable to connect at anything more than 160k (about 10 days).

Line stats don't appear to have changed that much, still 63dB down attenuation although SNR down is up at 13dB.

Is there anyway I can get it to attempt at 512k? I would have called through to BT Broadband by now, but quite frankly I haven't the patience to speak to their useless offshore call centres fishing for a fix. Which speaks volumes considering I'm an employee!

Basically, is there a shortcut I can ask them to put the line back in training mode and connect at the highest speed possible?
I don't assume I can sort this without speaking to them, but if I know what I'm asking for it might be a little less painful

Thanks

Is your sync 160k or is that your profile?

It's the sync that stuck at 160k

My IP profile is now 250 after checking with speedtester.

Got on phone to BT who will correct this, they said withing 48 hours, hope its sooner.

Nothing BT can do, the profile isn't stuck. By the time they get through to wholesale and wholesale process the request your profile will have went back up.

Just the home hub, I'm tempted to plug in my ST585 for a few days to force it back up that way.

The ST585 is similar to the HH, if you have a line issue it wont make a difference which router you use really. The reason I ask what your sync is because if your sync is 500k for example you are just waiting for your profile to go back up, otherwise its either a problem with your wiring (if applicable), HH or line.

Well, like i said a BT engineer came to replace my line due to a fault, did a speed test it was pathetic. Rang BT OW said they would fix it due to a stuck IP profile....did another speed test 1 min ago....its worst..?
