Anyone else having speed issues this week?
The past week the speed here has been terrible. barely getting 1mb.
Line stats are good as they always have been. Cant figure out whats going on.
Rang BT last night they say there is nothing wrong as per usual.
Any suggestions on what we can do about this?

Speeds went back to normal for a while but are now slow again, barely making 2mb here, and with a house of 4 people that use the net at the same time its getting to be unusable

ip profile is right for your synch so your throughput is pants you need to report a faukt with thd to make them aware that you are not acheving your MSR remeber the BTW speedtester takes you outside the bt retail traffic management systems.
|
|
|
Surely MSR is to do with the sync speed, not the throughput? He's sync'ed at 8128kbps.

been on the phone to BT tonight... what a fun phone call that was..
Guy we spoke to insisted that we are getting 8128kbps and did not seem to comprehend that, that is the speed the HH is connected at not the speed we are getting.
Bt speedtester tonight shows 1033kbps on the first test and 800kbps on the second
Clearly something wrong..
He has, from what i could understand him say, rest the IP/BRAS profile
Speeds tonight are ranging from 0.5mb to 4mb at the most with pings of 70ms+
Its getting silly now as we have had these [censored] throughput issues for about 2/3 weeks now

|
|
|
|
Quite right however he should be acheving his profile rate via the BTw tester remeber this is outside of bt retails traffic management sytems so they should report a fault to btw who will blindly ignore it and send it back

How long since you turned the router off for 20 minutes?
Or even a simple reboot if that is too long .

Been on the phone to bt tech again last night.. what ever was wrong was "fixed" and speeds where ok for a few hours this afternoon, they are now back down to as slow as it was before..
The BT speedtester showed up as red for both tests.. its getting silly now. What the hell is going on?
I dont want to have to ring BT again as the "tech support" dont have a clue what they are doing!!!!!!
One took control of my PC and couldent even find the line stats on the BT HH.. if i cant even manage such a simple task why on earth would i have any hope in having this issue fixed.

same here - syncing at 5500 according to bt speedtester but getting speeds of 600-800 - assumed it was just network congestion but its still pretty [censored] poor

Hi,
The most likely issue is that you VP is congested or some other type of congestion within BT.
As you sync speeds are in the 4544kbps - 8128kbps range then if you can get a BT speedtest showing a throughput of less than 2000kbps, then BT are meant to investigate any issue within their network under their SLA throughput agreement.
It might be worth giving the fault desk another shout and demanding the fault gets sent to complex faults so the VP can be investigated.

|
|
Hi thanks, speeds are below the 600k threshold shown on the bt speedtester....
Would it be worth ringing them before the enginner comes out to me or can the enginner look into the VP Capacity issue..
Its just odd that the speed issues came on like some one flipped a switch. it was fine one day then not the next.

There are currently no known capacity problems on your exchange. There may still be an exchange problem, however BT are not currently reporting that they are aware of it. Please contact Support if you are having speed problems, who can advise further.

I think its bt's traffic management [censored] about personaly

So, BT enginner has been, done his tests etc and gave me a new faceplate.. oo yay lol
It turns out one of the DSL Line cards at the exchange that serves about 300 people was acting up and has been "fixed" and is due to be replaced.... at some point.
Well we will see what happens with the speed over today. Its fine at the moment, actually better than fine.. its the fastest its ever been atm!

if a line card has been rebooted then takes some hours for everyone to log back on.

Well what ever the problem is, its not fixed..
I cant even watch bbc iplayer, online gaming is lagging with 999ms ping yet again..
It dose seem like congestion but why would it of just kicked in a few weeks ago like someone flipped a switch.
8am this morning i was getting 8mb, 12pm it was at 6mb, 3pm it was at 5mb and at 6pm im getting 0.5 - 1.5mb
web pages take ages to load or time out..
What the hell do i need to do to get BT to get this sorted?! :'(

To save my reading the whole thread, have we covered the possibility of BT capping your peak time speed for exceeding your allowance or the 300GB FUP? That lasts for 30 days.

im sure the cap is more than quarter of a meg... thats what we get at peak.. or less

Have you tried emailing the BT CEO ??
I emailed him recently over severe BB issues and thanks to his UK Newcastle based High Level Complaints team - it looks like my issues are fixed
Plus they don't just close the issue they are monitoring it till we are BOTH happy
I got a reply quickly when I emailed last saturday after 4wks of h*ll from the THD
|
|
|
can you PM his email?
Also, a phone number for the complaints team would help.

GET YOUR ASS IN GEAR BT.. really, what is it going to take to get this fixed?
First thing tomorrow im on the phone to otelo and ofcom if thats what its going to take to get this sorted out.
I, and my 3 house mates are NOT happy and fed up with this now. 4 weeks its been going on now, enough is enough

Email the CEO of BT - he and his 'ELC - Executive Level Complaints' team sorted me out with an engineer the next day who apparently was sent out especially for me and it seemed like he was one of their best guys.
Say to him that you are going to complain to Ofcom. I was in a similar situation although three engineers didn't show and I'm still getting issues with high latency (in it's tens of thousands) although their overseas call centre doesn't even know what latency is. I'm afraid to email him again though as I might seem annoying.
[email protected]
That's his email address - give him a link to this thread so he can see a detailed view of your problems.

Its amazing what an email to the right person will do xD
2 Days after emailing Mr Ian, we have been switched to a new VP and speeds are back up to 8mb once again.

Now... why couldn't the overseas call centers of done this in the first place...
