Duh! I asked for the full router stats not its model. The place where you got the 8.1 Meg line speed. I'm too far away to be able to look inside your router wink

There should be some figures for attenuation and noise margins which will allow people to judge whether the connection speed is in line with your line length.

What speed was estimated at the time of signup?

http://www.coolwebhome.co.uk/calc can do an assessment of the figures once you find them

Hi,

Ive just looked on BT forums and they say full stats no longer available strange..

it was from 6-10meg before on my BE connection I got 8-9meg but I know it was different equipment but I don't know why It shows 8.41Meg to the router but only 7.31Meg when downloading

8.41 Meg then allow for over heads, so best you will see is 88.2% of that, hence the 7.3 ish speeds.

Where do you get this from? Is it the IP Profile from BT Wholesale Broadband Performance Test? Please run that and then the Further Diagnostics at the bottom and copy & paste the text boxes to here.

Can you get fuller router stats from How to get your router line stats - BT Home Hub?

Interesting! That's a BT Retail speedtest that I'm not familiar with. It only gives full results for BTr BB customers only. Peeps here are more familiar with the BT Wholesale speedtest, which works on all BTw lines, whose link I gave you and you have now run.

YES, you can get these from home hub4, im on adsl2 connection with homehub4 and here are my stats

08:13:18, 19 Jul. (1032304.400000) ETHoA is up - VPI: 0, VCI:35
08:13:18, 19 Jul. (1032304.400000) DSL is up
08:13:17, 19 Jul. (1032303.370000) DSL noise margin: 5.90 dB upstream, 3.00 dB downstream
08:13:16, 19 Jul. (1032302.460000) DSL line rate: 1243 Kbps upstream, 20932 Kbps downstream

if the person with the speed problem wants to check his margins they are done by
going to homehub settings page
click trouble shooting top right
click event log
select category WAN
scroll down list till he sees the connection date he wants,

i have been with BT since leaving BE/o2 on the 5th July 2013 and my router has rebooted and resynced 4 times, im on the lowest margin now 3dB that i was on with BE and the speed is as good, just waiting for fibre in 1 months time.

Not really! As was pointed out, it lacks the attenuation, the principal parameter that determines your top speed.

Now if you could remember your stats on Be or find them posted on TBB, that would be a good start.

Sounds a bit too high. 45dB is good for about 7.2 Mag sync speed and you would never have got the 10 Meg you said earlier that you once got on Be.

Your speeds are more consistent with a 41dB attn, but it's in the right ballpark.

If your router allows it you might try setting the ADSL Mode to ADSL2 (G992.3) for a faster speed.

Your neighbour has got about the same attenuation as I guessed for you.

However his line is performing well above par for some reason. I would have predicted 9 Meg rather than the 11.5 Meg that it is.
