On the 12th we had a bad thunderstorm here. I turned off my computer before the powercut. etc. The next day I connected ok, then after about 30 mins it disconnected and the modem ( a speedtouch 330) would not initialise with the adsl line and thats how it's been ever since. I rang the call centre and they said there was a fault on the line. I've rung them everyday since as nothing seems to be happening. I've been promised a call back 4 times and am still waiting. Today after nine days and eventually getting through to a supervisor ( I think!) he said the line was now clear, then said sorry there was still a fault after doing another line check. I have been with bt for about 4 years and previously had a rock solid connection. I'm now stuck with the same tale everytime I ring ie it is being looked into. Is there any other number I can ring to please get this sorted out. I even put a message on the link that Mr. Saffron gave about the upgrades in the hope somebody in the UK will take pity and get something done.
You may well br right Random but how do I go about getting them to send another when they reckon it's a line fault. Ps I'm gettin' fed up using a phone to write this! ( insert a smiley here!)
Looks like you were right Random...........after 14 days eventually got an engineer and despite what the call centre kept saying there is no fault on the line. His modem worked fine so just gotta wait till they send me another. Hope it'll be a wireless router, and hope I get some sort of decent refund for all the aggro.
As RJ said, 9 times out of 10, if you have had an electric storm, and afetr your ADSL goes tits-up, then it will be the modem/router which has gone for a burton. Trouble is persuading the good folk at TS that this is the case.
