My broadband connection since regrade

[link to this post]

Was on the 2mbps Broadband option. And always had good speeds. Regraded and it said would likely get 4.5mbps which I was okay with. Activation date for regrade was 15th August

Currently router says it is connected at
downstream 6688kbps
upstream 448kbps

However since 15th August (Activation date) speed test suggests
Downstream 1,883.7 Kbps ( = 1.8 Mbps )
Upstream 376.7 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

Do I need to report this to BT or will it all sort itself out in due course without me taking no action. Currently have a linksys router will plug the Home Hub in when all sorted.

Any thoughts on this anyone? Speed test today shows the best download speeds since regrade, so I am wondering if this will actually sort itself out on its own.... Router says it is connected at downstream 7072 and upstream 448. Is it a case of to expect anything between 2mbps and 5mbps from here on in at any one moment in time?

Speed Test Results

Downstream 5,119.3 Kbps ( = 5.0 Mbps )
Upstream 377.3 Kbps ( = 0.4 Mbps )

I know it seems a silly question, but what is your problem here? You are synced at a good speed and you are getting a good download better than mine so what is the problem?

Hi Paul, more just looking for advice and whether the high sync downstream speed and low downstream actual download rate I was getting 5 or 6 days ago was the norm. I now have the high sync and high download speed, but I guess the question is will I get download speeds between 2mbps and 5mbps from here on in?

You're still in the stabilisation period, which was 10 days now BT advise it's 15!

Once at least a two week period is up, then and only then can you raise a fault.

However if you do raise a fault be prepared to have fun talking to the bods at Bangalor ....

BTYahoo!

1Mb stats Atten: 52.5 SNR 18.5
MaxADSL Atten: 53.0 SNR 6.0 (448Kb up / 2080Kb down)

If you try to submit a fault before the 10 days are up you will get nowhere, so wait till your 10 days are up and see what you get then.

Ahh I get you now.

Erm no, I had a sync of 5200+odd and was getting throughput of just a little over 512k. So you could get anything from what your BRAS profile max is sitting at just now down to slower than 512k at 400k before you can raise a fault with BT. It is called exchange congestion and unless your speed goes down to <400k at all times their is nothing you can do about it. Wholesale refuse to deal with it.

Last month I was getting 5+meg now I get less than 1MB.

Hope this helps, I don't think it is what you were hoping for but that is DSL Max. It means at peak time BT can get more out of their network by putting more users on and slowing everybody down and then off peak times open the network up to people who want to use it then. But sometimes this backfires and the net wont work and you find yourself clicking many times to get a link to just go.
