My BT Hub Phone doesn't work, but Softphone does?

[link to this post]

I have 2 BT Hub Phones (they sent me an extra one by mistake). I have one regsitered to a base which is my standard phone line. And I have one registered to the BT Home Hub as an Internet phone. Everything was fine until a few days ago.

When I dial a number with the net phone, I get the higher pitched dial tone (this is normal), and then after a while when it dials the number, I get an even higher pitched whine. And it doesn't call the number.

But if I use the BT Softphone, that works fine and dials anything.

So I took my second Hub Phone and registered it to the Hub. It became handset number 2. I tried dialling with this, and it also gives a high pitched whine and doesn't call the number.

But both phones work fine if I register them to my standard line's base unit. But they don't work with BB Talk. They do make the higher dial tone like it should, but don't call any number. All it does is make another very high pitched whine and the "Hi" symbol comes on the display (for High Def sound), but my number doesn't get dialled.

But they used to work fine and dialled whatever I called. What's going on?

I'm getting the same problem. Now just waiting on a replacement hub phone(6-8 weeks) getting a DECT replacement meantime.

Also my soft-phone will sometimes come up and say that the call is forbidden and the hub phone will go beep beep beep beep beep beep...

You getting that problem as well Ballistics? It usually happens once they have been signed in for any length of time.

Does your dead Hub Phone work on a standard phone line if you have another base unit (not the Hub). As in, does it work with regular landline calls like mine. Mine only doesn't work on VoIP anymore, but the Softphone does.

Everything was perfect a while ago and all of a sudden it doesn't make calls or recieves them! Only the Softphone does.

You say your call is forbidden. I'm not sure if it forgets that it's signed in after a long time, but check your BB Talk Account page and see if it's blocking outgoing calls. There are lots of settings you can do in there (I'm sure you've seen them). Maybe it's blocking incoming calls or something?

Well I just registered a spare standard cordless phone to the BT Home Hub and the problem happens on that as well!

If I dial a number (1471 for example) and let it dial it, it won't go into 1471, it'll just go beeeeeeeeeee......

But if I use the Softphone and dial 1471, it goes through and I get my last caller read out to me by the lady.

So its not a problem with the BT Hub Phone, it's the BT Home Hub not letting any phones registered to it dial out anymore.

What can I do?

It is a problem with the BT broadband talk plat form ballistics. Leave softphone in for a while and you will see but rather than beeeeeee it will just say call forbidden yet I am calling an 01343 number! Exit and restart the app and what do you know it works great.

I have fixed the problem with the Hub Phone 1010 or any other DECT phone giving a continuous beeeeeee tone when calling someone.

I restarted the Home Hub from its webpage. After it cycled back on, I called a number with my Hub Phone. It worked! I called 1471 and my own home landline number, and both worked!

So anyone having this problem (which I've had for over a week now), all you need to do is restart the Home Hub. Make sure the Phone light comes back on and try and call someone again. Mine's back up!

Yes it know that works, it is just like restarting softphone, but why should you have to reboot the home hub every time you want to make a call.
