Anyone getting SPAM like this lately?

[link to this post]

I recieve one or two emails like this everyday since the end of last year. Pretty annoying:( Usually what's been written and recieving interval seem pretty random. Is there anything I could do to get rid of them?

If you're only getting one or two, then you're lucky: something like 93% of total emails every day are now spam (my software tells me mine is running at 83%...).

Don't have preview pane on in your inbox, better still use some software to intercept them before you download to your email reader (eg Mailwasher), don't open them and certainly don't reply.

The use of random text is in an attempt to get around filtering software, as is the use of images.

Unfortunately, there isn't much you can do to stop them turning up, but, at least with a program like Mailwash, it can cut down the amount of time you waste on sorting the damn things.

Be wary of bouncing emails using such software, as to do this it apparently creates a false email address and you can fall foul of your aup, through effectively being a spammer yourself! Plus, it adds to the overall traffic in the ether.

OMG 93%! Really sorry to hear that. Anyway thanks for your advice I'll check this Mailwash software you've mentioned. I have a very bad feeling that once my email address is listed in their spam list I maybe getting more in the future? Hope not:(

How do I get rid of the preview pane in Outlook Express. I've often wondered!

I use Outlook, but from what I can recall, it's much the same as OE: have inbox as current folder, top menu "View" > reading pane > off.

If it's not the same, sorry, the old cells are fading! I don't have OE on here to check.

Hi,

Use ThunderBird, OE is c**p.

I have been using GMAIL to receive mail from my personal domain via ww.rollernet.us

I can setup DNSBL's as many as I like, greylist, SPF, although they are in US very quick.

I was getting 450 mails a day, 420 of them were spam, now I get 40 mails a day and 5 or so are spam. I am tuning greylist so that when they re-try the DNSBL's will have caught them.

Hope this helps.
