fileplanet?

[link to this post]

Are BT throttling traffic from fileplanet/ 3dgamer/ ign i seem to be getting 90 - 170kb/s on a lot of my downloads from there

im using the IGN/Fileplanet offical download manager and the "high speed servers for subscribers"

I know fileplanet can serve up the files faster than that becuase ive had 5.35MB/s from fileplanet before (at a lan party where they had a 100mbit internet connection not at home obvisouly)

my IP profile is 6.5mbit but apart from 1 download where i hit 300kb/s i always seem to be stuck pulling 90- 170kb/s and the speed is going up and down like a yoyo.

According to the fileplanet FAQ they don't cap the transfer speeds so either its BT or something wrong with my pc/connection (i can speedtest at between 5- 6.5 mbit on the bt speedtester.) and i can download at higher speeds from other locations.

im half expecting an email any time soon saying i've gone over my 40gb, ive not been measuring it but it wouldnt suprise me in the slightest if i had.

Im hopeing they'll shift me to the "unlimited" they've been offering everyone else.

I joined 1 day after they moved the existing customers over to unlimted, although on the phone when ordering i asked what would happen if i went over the 40gb and they said it had gone unlimited although the btyahoo portal says 40gb.

I don't mind so much being shaped but they could have at least dropped me an email saying they've applied shaping to my account.
