Activation Date ?

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Started the process of upgrading from my fixed 2meg connection to BT Max last Thurs. Today the Home Hub arrived on the stated delivery date which they e-mailed to me.

However a bit confussed regarding my broadband activation date in the e-mail they sent last Thurs it stated "What Next? You do not need to do anything until your activation date of 25/01/07". Recieved no further emails, text, phone calls etc regarding activation and having checked my current speed etc Im still on the fixed connection. Does it normally take longer than the stated activation date ?

Thanks.

The upgrade should happen sometime today but it may take longer as it's not guaranteed.

Just have to see what happens.

Thanks Orly.

Don't intend using the home hub sticking with my Linksys router this won't make any difference will it ? Will it have to be reconfigured or anything ?

In my experience (quite a lot) BT are always spot on with their activation date and so it WILL happen - or in fact probably has already today. I suggest that you power your router off for 30 seconds and then back on again. Then check your speed. Remember that the new service is 'rate adaptive' and takes ten days to settle down so speed may fluctuate over that period.

Thanks Terry,

Just did a speed test and then turned off the router for a min or so then rechecked the speed and it's the same as before! Guess Im just going to have to be patient and see what happens....

Can you please post your line stats. I do not know how to get them on your specific router. Please check your documentation which came with your router.

Nah your not "Maxed" yet. You will know when you get maxed as going by your line stats you will be getting the full 8MB available. But you may not see this in speedests due to contention in various places.

If its not done by Monday give them a call. It will be to do with order management. Call up on 0800 800 150 and follow the options for broadband I think it is option 3, but listen to others to see if their is anything for order management. Give them your details explain your situation and they should get it sorted for you!
