home hub port forwarding issues

[link to this post]

Hi
Has anyone had or got port forwarding issues with the home hub. Mines firmware 6116. A couple of m8s are on the later revision firmware. After 7hrs of battling between the three of us to port forward for one of our online games I gave up, and plugged my belkin back in and hey presto the game server was visable.
I had tried portforwarding, turning the firewall off, etc etc to no avail.

Spoke to bt today (india) and they recon cause ive got internet connectivity its working and wont replace it. Clearly it isnt working correctly and when you pay 30-40 quid for a pc game to play online, to be told tough effectively, im rather miffed. And ive not been with bt a week yet.

Whats your experiences ????

I've used the hub to forward ports for a webserver, ventrilo voip and medal of honor servers ok. It's a bit fiddly and took me a while to suss out that it's a two stage process. You create a rule on one page and then have to assign it by finding your new rule on the drop down menu on a different page.

The UI on 6,1.x.x was [censored]. You are on very old firmware now. Try upgrading to 6.2.2.6 and see if it is more intuitive.

6.1.1.6 never existed I presume you have 6.2.2.6?

Anyway in 6.2.2.6 their is problems with uPnP this will be fixed in April. Their is also a problem if you manually enter ports into the home hub for applications are not listed. As far as I know they are still investigating this. But it is known. Workaround is to look at applications in the home hub's list and select one which does both UDP & TCP ports and change your application to use the ports set out in the application you set in the home hub.

I am unable to change the ports of the games I host. clearly you are correct in that its the router firmware. Even with the firewall turned off the server cannot be seen. any suggestions? I've had a right battle with bt on the phone and they are going to try to unlock the ports!!!!!!! tomorrow.

Which ports are you trying to open? Deativating the firewall wont work as no matter what setting you have the firewall at, it is still enabled as standard.

I am currently experiencing some trouble setting up and working CS:S but I figure it is more a steam problem when it comes up asking me to purchase it. Xbox live works great no problems there. Set-up was as easy as 1,2,3.

The are a largish number of ports for the game vietcong. 3783,27900,28900,29900,29901,13139,15425,6515,5425. The firmware in the home hub is 6.1.1.R.
I have tried putting these ports in as any, and doubled them up as both tcp and udp to no avail. In my belkin router i duplicated the ports so the same list of ports was entered as tcp and then the same ports as dcp. That works fine. I have tried both ways with the home hub. Clearly its not forwarding the ports as it should.
Thx for your input lads.

6.1.1.R I never got as an update so I could never test it. I am running 6.2.2.6 and that is the case. I do not know if the problem existed in R.
