just asked for interleaving to be turned off...

[link to this post]

Emailed BT asking for interleaving to be turned off, they said it would be transmitted to the order management team so hopfully they'll do it.

Reason i asked is becuase i sync at 7.6mbit (from what i read interleaving can make 8mbit/s unobtainable) and also ive looked at my error count stats from the router (just changed from my dlink dsl-g624 (becuase it locked up to often) to a netgear DG834GT which somone lent me to use.

Been monitoring error stats on both routers and get very few errors (infact ive had 0 since the netgear last synched) so i thought id try having interleaving turned off and see if it affects my sync rate

also having less latancy in games will be a good thing, according to bts site i can just ask for it to be put back on if i find my connection ends up worse..

hope ive done the right thing.

|Be warned , I had interleaving turned off and lost a gig in speed although my cs pings were awsome. Generally interleaving off will decrease max line speed , not increase it.

A gig? did you mean a megabit?

Oh well maybe bf2 will work with it off rather than keep coming up "there is a problem with your connection" even though there isnt (more likely ea's netcode than the connection)

guess its just a case of wait and see what happens.

Wow - You must live in Japan

Seriously though, it varies from line to line, I lost nearly a Meg when interleaving was enabled on my line.

8128kps sync rate.

Pings are lower.

http://www.speedtest.net/result/100092122.png shows 6.954mbit

Im quite happy with the result not really sure why interleaving got turned on in the first place.

i filled out the contact us form on the BT site.

got an email back from broadband support saying they'd escalated the request to the order management team, few days later it was done.

the reply came from [email protected]

the email i got from them was the following (i told them it was upsetting my ping online games, haven't tryed BF2 yet to see if it solves the "there is a problem with your connection" freezes )

Dear Mr. xxxxxx,

Thank you for your e-mail dated 14th March 2007, your e-mail has been logged under the reference number xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx.

I understand from your e-mail that you would like to turn off interleaving on your line as you are facing difficulty in playing online games. I would be happy to assist you in this regard.

Please note that I have escalated this issue to our Order Management to turn off the interleaving. It would be done within three to five working days. If you have any queries in future, please contact us through e-mail at [email protected].

Thank you for using BT Total Broadband.
