BT Retail Statement On Speeds

[link to this post]

Not sure if your like me and go straight to the forums page here but a significant statement from BT retail was posted on the TB front page. Find it below and the link.

In reply to:

"Broadband usage in the UK has been one of the great consumer technology success stories and we are aware that this accelerating demand has meant that a few exchanges can be congested at very busy times. The broadband team at BT Retail is working with our BT Wholesale colleagues to resolve this issue as soon as possible.

In BT Retail we are currently conducting a programme that is already introducing extra bandwidth availability and we are also working with technology that further improves the way that broadband traffic is managed at peak times. Both of these initiatives will improve your experience and if you are amongst the small number of broadband users that have been experiencing slower speeds through congestion you should be noticing improvements shortly, if you're not doing so already."

Hi All,

While not directly related to the slow speed issue seen here, BT have
requested that we post the following in relation to exchange congestion in
general.

"Broadband usage in the UK has been one of the great consumer technology
success stories and we are aware that this accelerating demand has meant
that a few exchanges can be congested at very busy times. The broadband
team at BT Retail is working with our BT Wholesale colleagues to resolve
this issue as soon as possible.

In BT Retail we are currently conducting a programme that is already
introducing extra bandwidth availability and we are also working with
technology that further improves the way that broadband traffic is
managed at peak times. Both of these initiatives will improve your
experience and if you are amongst the small number of broadband users
that have been experiencing slower speeds through congestion you should
be noticing improvements shortly, if you're not doing so already"

I posted this about 3 days ago , many of us agreed it was just PR bullcrap... This will NOT fix the HTTP issue as that isn't a congestion problem

It may not sort the HTTP speed issues but it means officially BT have acknowledged that their are speed issue they have not gone into detail which so we can only presume they mean HTTP.

3 months to release a statement aint bad at all!

The traffic management affecting HTTP speeds came into affect in March, plusnet were bought in early January.

My exchange gets congest very early in the day!

80: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtestcomplete.html?id=11817525891399189702
8095: http://www.thinkbroadband.com/speedtestcomplete.html?id=11817525216917459674

It would seem congestion on my exchange which has been confirmed GREEN on congestion is very selective in which traffic it congests. This is one issue I'm not lying down on!

Fusion is the only major service from BT I do not have! Well BT Mobile as well. Got everything else and mostly the full subscription if applicable.

It is good to know BT really don't value their customers. Been told I can go free thats how much I am valued! Not one little bit.Get out our hair we don't want you anymore.
