New Norton

[link to this post]

Hi All,
Just finished re-installing windows xp on a machine, logged onto bt yahoo to get the norton stuff, and it looks a much newer edition. In fact it look the same as the one that downloaded on my vista machine (I thought the difference was just because I had vista and the old version wasn't compatible - but it looks as though they've upgraded them all).

Regards

villass785,
OK, but my comment was that I've been using Norton on 2 machines an xp one and a vista one, and the norton software on the xp machine has now been upgraded.

The vista one had a more modern appearance and feels like a new version. The only time the xp one was updated to this same standard was following a complete windows rebuild, so it's possible that the new version came out since you started using it. (i.e. within 4 months).

However there could well be users out there who've had their current version installed for a long time, who despite the online updates will not get this latest version. For them it may be worth de-installing and re-installing the product.

Yes would agree with this. On my old laptop I switched to free security software after problems with BT Yahoo Norton. Just bought a new laptop, downloaded BT Yahoo Norton and it is definitely different from when I last used it about 4 months ago. So it has changed sometime within those 4 months. It looks like NIS 2008, a trial of which was on my new laptop.

The norton you get with BT Yahoo is it a trial or a full version?? is it limited to like 12 months or forever as long as you are with BT?

Thanks

Its a full version which lasts as long as you are a BT customer. Cant remember how many different PC's you can install it on, it's either 5 or 10.
