[link to this post]

My contract is up at the end of November, does anyone know the earliest time i can ask for a mac code, are we billed like 3 months in advance from the start.

I have just been offered a 2 reduction off my broadband but i can slash it by around 15 a month by moving to Sky Broadband now i subscribe to there tv,i have nothing wrong with the service BT offer but money is the issue here...

Thanks in advance for any answers....

If you're out of contract then you can ask for your MAC at any time, and BT will put a credit on your next bill if you leave within a billing period. If you're still in contract then you might have a bit of an argument as they'll be on at you for migrating early and you'll need to pay such and such.

Basically, phone up cancellations / retentions team and chat with them, they'll advise you what the best course of action is.

2 reduction seems pretty miserly. I am in the final month of my eighteen month contract which I must say has been excellent - no downtime - fast speeds etc.

I telephoned 0800800030 yesterday and was offered a reduction of my option1 connection from 17.99 to 9.50 per month for the duration of a new 12 month contract.

Try the above number and ask.

£2 is miserly when you have your contract extended by either 12 or 18 months i fell for it the first time but i won't be doing it again,i shall be moving to sky at the end of November for the same product at the fraction of the cost,if they ring me again i shall tell them why this time if they can match sky's broadband i will stay but surely you cannot have some on special privledges can you and others paying top price !!!!

Check the terms and conditions - it should say how much notice you need to give ??

A few people I know have done this:
If its a month then time it so the end of that months notice is the end of your contract

Yea it looks like a month or 30 days, but why is it hard work reading the terms and conditions lol...i would have thought if you have reached the end of a contract then you are free to move as and when you want....

Thanks for all your replies it is appreciated....

Alot of people ask for their MAC code 29/30 days before contract end (MAC codes valid for 30 days too) then when the contracts up use the MAC code
