Broadband Package query

[link to this post]

Hi all,

Just thought i would run this by you lot to see if anyone else has heard of similar.

my dad phoned me tonight and told me BT called him today. He is a BT Customer and has been for many years, and since Broadband arrived many years ago, we've had BT Broadband. anyhow.

He was called today and told they would give him a new updated BT Hub, Vision and his Broadband for £14.50ish (he said it was definately £14 something) a month and it was a 12 month contract.

I get the feeling someone at BT has made a muck up, missold my dad or my dad aint got a clue lol.

anyone heard of similar packages they are offering to long standing customers.

Thanks in advance.
Sam

I can't see it being £14 unless Bt is desperate, but I can't see them being that desperate. what option broadband is that for?

I suppose it could be for option one,. but that is still cheaper than option one, some people have had the BTVision box for free, but that is only the box and you still need to pay for on Demand if you require it.

I think someone have got mucked up somewhere.

Might just be the introductory price, which reverts to a higher fee after 6 months

I have also been a BT custome for a long time. I received an email last week offering me a new 12-month contract at
£15.58* a month for the next 12 months for your broadband, telephone line rental and calls.

So, I guess they are desperate to keep their loyal customers lol laugh

At the end of the day they know how much competition is out there and they need to keep customers, how long they can keep doing deals for is another thing.

Easier to keep customers than to get them I suppose and once they locked you in a 12 month contract, it don't matter if they offer a service that is not great, because you are stuck.

I am not going fo another 12 month contract, I was thinking of it at one point as I was thinking of looking at BT Vision, but I got 8 months left on my contract and I don't really want to be tied in after this contract. I need to save money and I think I could find a better deal than Bt after January, even if it is not unlimited.

I renewed a couple of months ago on Option2 at £14 for 12 months, I've already got Bt vision box. I was also offered reduction on BT line rental for a 6 month period as well. Offered me a few other things which I wasn't interested in which would have pushed the price back up a bit. They weren't happy about that but they had already offered me the reductions.

I have not been offered anything yet and I doubt I will for a while. At the moment I am a bit fed up with BT, I am synced at 2.8Mbits and yet a speedtest gives me under 1Mbit, what is the use of that for streaming?

Just to see what happens, I put my deatials in for Bt vision and it came back with my line being too slow, hello but I am synced at 2800, I was synced at 3Mbit last night when I done the test, but my main trip went while I was at work, so it knocked everything off.

a friend of mine is synced at 2Mbit and yet they allowed her to have Bt vision.

It was only a test anyway, just to be nosy. I should think Bt would want as many people as they can on BT vision by looking at this bit of news.
