Sync vs. Download Speed

Hi

I have just moved from bulldog/pipex llu to bt broadband (8mbs, option 3) today. I used to get an average of 6mbs download speed, now although I am synced at 8mbs, my download speeds are around 2mbs. Bt technical support say my download speed should be sorted out in the next 10 days. Is this correct or should I be getting higher speeds right now? Thanks

P.S. I have just checked and they seem o.k now - around 6mbs again - lets hope they stay there!

Just wait a few days... it'll be ~1mbit throughout most of the day and the only time you'll see speeds over 3-4mbit will be 4am.

lol so true , i wonder if people even bother to research an isp before they move over

Well to be fair not everyone gets that poor speeds... atleast I assume not...

But pretty much all the friends and family that are on BT and let me benchmark do.

That's probably because the average jo doesn't notice and think its all nice and normal lol.

Thanks for all your replies - lets hope i end up getting a decent stable speed in a few days' time: at the moment its fluctuating between 3-6mbs.
